About Me

My name is Andrew and I teach math at the Cooke School and Institute, a school for students with disabilities in lower Manhattan, New York City. I also teach pre-service teachers at The City College of New York. Additionally, I have worked with Illustrative Mathematics on the Open Up Resources middle school mathematics curriculum as well as a course for Mount Holyoke.

I am currently a member of NCTM’s Publishing Committee and I have also contributed to publications such as: NCTM’s Math Tasks to Talk About Blog, Becoming the Math Teacher You Wish You’d Had, Motivated, and the Global Math Department Newsletter.

You can contact me at agael@cookeschool.org.

I tweet at @bkdidact.

I am interested in the diversity of the learning process for each individual student as well as working towards equitable access for all students to the highest quality mathematics instruction.
